A Capitol rioter was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot his own children if they turned him in to the FBI.
48-year-old Guy Reffitt is a Texas family man who drove to Washington, DC and participated in the January 6 assault on the Capitol, an affidavit shared by Dallas News revealed.
Following the insurrection, Reffitt reportedly returned home and threatened his son by telling him he would “do what he had to do” if he turned him in. The father allegedly also threatened to put a bullet through his daughter’s phone.
“If you turn me in, you’re a traitor and you know what happens to traitors … Traitors get shot,” the 48-year-old rioter told his children while arguing with them about the incident, his wife told the authorities.
As the woman insisted, the family was left shaken by Reffitt’s words even though she believes he wouldn’t actually harm his children.
Following his arrest, Reffitt has been charged with unlawful entry and obstruction of justice. While he admitted that he was present at Capitol Hill on the day of the deadly riot, the man insists he never entered the Capitol building.
In pictures from January 6, Reffitt is seen strolling around the building while clad in a blue jacket, a bulletproof vest, and a helmet featuring a camera at the front.
As the investigators raided his home, they discovered a Smith & Wesson pistol as well as an AR-15 rifle. While Reffitt admitted to bringing his pistol with him, he claimed to have disassembled it to comply with local laws.
