A young girl was left in a coma after a horrific crash involving Kansas City Chief’s assistant coach Britt Reid.
Ariel, 5, was in the back of a car that Reid reportedly crashed into after he had a couple of drinks on his prescription Adderall, KSHB reported.
Another child, four years old, was also in the back seat and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kansas City police said that a white Dodge Ram crashed into a Chevrolet Impala that was at a standstill on an exit ramp on Thursday night.
The Impala’s driver had called family for help as they had run out of fuel, and a Chevrolet Traverse arrived and parked in front of the vehicle.
Reid, who was driving the Dodge Ram, hit the left front of the Impala before crashing into the right rear of the Traverse.
Two children in the backseat of the Traverse were rushed to a local hospital. The 4-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries but the 5-year-old was left in a coma.
“The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving Outside Linebackers Coach, Britt Reid,” the Chiefs said in a statement.
“We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
Reid, the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, reportedly told an officer that he had 2 to 3 drinks. He was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
The team confirmed that Reid won’t make it to Tampa as he was involved in a multi-car pile-up in Missouri.
The 35-year-old had previous DUI and drug charges from a separate incident.
He is now being investigated to determine whether he was impaired at the time of the collision.
