A ‘beautiful girl’ was exposed as a catfish after it came to light that she is in fact a 50-year-old man looking for attention.
The hilarious story takes place in Japan where a motorbike rider with a bright smile and long hair took the social media by surprise and quickly racked up thousands of followers.
On ‘her’ account, Twitter user known as @azusagakuyuki frequently shared photos and updates about ‘her’ lifestyle and adventures.
As all good things come to an end, however, the proud biker was one day caught off guard as ‘her’ fans spotted a male face in a mirror reflection in one of the photos shared online.
After people started suggesting the entire account was fake, a Japanese TV show tracked down the person behind the @azusagakuyuki account only to be gobsmacked when the rider turned out to be a 50-year-old man named Zonggu.
As the guy insisted, he adopted the ‘pretty girl’ look by photo editing his pictures in an attempt to get more likes and attention on the internet.
While his new looks helped him gain nearly 18,000 followers, Zonggu was eventually exposed as a catfish after his eagle-eyed fans spotted a mirror reflection showing a man in one of the photos. People also started pointing out other suspicious elements such as a “masculine-looking hairy arm” seen in one of the photos.
Following the bombshell revelation, Zonggu admitted that he enjoyed becoming an instant “online celebrity.” While some of his fans were disappointed by the discovery, others praised the man’s photo editing skills and applauded him for managing to turn into “such a cute girl.”
“My trust issues have been upgraded,” someone wrote.
“His hair is so luscious it’s worth the clickbait,” another one joked.
One netizen said: “This dude looks prettier than me!”
