Investigators on the case had found out the truth about a newborn baby that was taken to a nearby hospital after being born.
Lesbia Cante, grandmother, and Francisco Javier Gonzales-Lopez, grandfather, claimed that the baby had been left on their front porch, hence their rush to get to the hospital.
Taking the newborn to St. Joseph Hospital, there was a worry within the family since the baby had been taken in with a rising temperature of 90 degrees.
The infant allegedly arrived on their door step and the police continued to interview them, thinking that the situation was not adding up on their end. It was then the grandfather of the baby, Gonzales-Lopez, confessed that the child did not appear on their porch, but had been birthed in a bathtub in their residence.
The identity of the mother had been Cante’s 11 year old daughter. Investigators found that the father’s identity, Norvin Leonidas Lopez-Cante, is her 17-year-old brother. Confirmation of whether the brother is half or full sibling is disclosed.
He tells the police that he was unaware of the girl being pregnant, nor did he know that his son had been raping the 11-year-old girl, until the baby was born in his bathtub.
The brother, Lopez-Cante, admits that he had sex with the girl twice a week, and in total it adds up to 100 times since the first time he had sex with her.
From this confession, the teenager was charged with first-degree statutory rape, statutory sodomy, and incest.
The grandfather, Gonzales-Lopez, was convicted with endangering the welfare of a child, also entering the country illegally and had been deported. His wife was also convicted of a crime, failing to provide a safe and medical environment for their daughter after she gave birth.
Their daughter’s identity remains unknown.
