Isaiah Acosta was born as a premature and an individual who did not have a jaw.
Right after he was born, he didn’t have oxygen for 15 minutes, doctors speculating that he would not be able to survive. If he were to survive, he wouldn’t have the basic necessities to talk or walk like most people.
20 years later and he’s still up on his feet, fighting his condition.
Isaiah suffers from multiple disorders and medical conditions, that including the absence of his lower jaw and respiratory pathways. Under this condition, he needs assistance in order to talk, breathe, and eat when the time comes.
Isaiah’s vital organs are reversed, not in the original positions that they should be in.
Regardless of that, Isaiah has proven that he can survive despite these complications, wanting a better quality of life.
The difficulties include care 24/7, facing blockages and other dangers on a daily basis. Someone has to constantly check up on him, making sure he is alright to do basic things. For example, he needs to have parental guidance when he’s seeing a movie with his friends. He can’t stay in his room alone like most do, he is 100% dependent on his parents due to his condition.
They try their best to protect him, but the world is still cruel because of the differences he has with other people. Isaiah refutes and tells Untold Miracles Podcast: “I am full of life and I am not letting anyone take that away from me.”
He was interested in music at the age of five, delving into the fine details of rap. He started to write lyrics as a way of community since he is unable to speak, and his dream is to become a rapper. So how does a kid deal with these obstacles?
In 2016, he had attended a Children Miracle Network, telling people that he would like to become a rapper via text. Producer Topher Horman did his best to turn Isaiah’s dream into a reality.
Tikey Patterson, Phoenix rapper, started to work closely with Isaiah. They bonded like no other, working together as if there were no complications to begin with in the first place.
The rapper and Isaiah recorded and released a song back in 2017 called “Oxygen to Fly,” an autobiographical, telling his story and struggles to find the voice while having these medical restrictions.
He has other projects, becoming a hit across America and even ended up as a panelist at the South by Southwest Music Festival based in Texas. He’s performed in front of celebrities such as Nick Cannon, Marie Osmond, and more.
Tikey Patterson, one of his close colleagues, passed away from pancreatic cancer. Isaiah started to visit him in the hospital, “He was right with him, holding his hand.”
Isaiah continues to make a difference by feeding the homeless, providing for the needy, and giving his voice for the voiceless. He is determined to live his life like everyone else.
