DMX’s family is now facing a heartbreaking decision to take him off life support as the rapper has ‘not regained any brain function’ one week after his overdose and heart attack.
According to reports, the 50-year-old entertainer’s condition has not shown any improvement, leaving his family with the heartbreaking decision over whether to keep him on life support.
The rapper has been holding on to life for many days after suffering an alleged overdose and heart attack.
Series of tests showed there was ‘no improvement in brain activity’ since DMX was first taken to a hospital, TMZ reported.
In the Thursday report, the test results performed on Wednesday have been described as ‘not good’ and that his heartbroken family has requested that former manager and longtime friend Steve Rifkind visit New York to be by DMX’s side.
This comes after Rifkind had told People that they were “just waiting on the doctors to tell us what the next steps were.”
The news outlet said that the tests will “dictate further decisions to be made by DMX’s family.”
Some of the entertainer’s 15 children are visiting him in the hospital for what is believed to be ‘a final goodbye,’ according to TMZ.
TMZ reported that the rapper’s condition remains critical and ‘dire.’ But the coronavirus restrictions are making the matter more complicated as only one person is allowed to see him at a time.
The family said through a publicist: “On Friday night, April 2nd, 2021, our brother, son, father, and colleague DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, was admitted to White Plains (NY) Hospital, facing serious health issues.
“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.”
