The murder of young girl Junko Furuta is a chilling one, especially when uncovering the time before her death since she was tortured horribly for 44 days straight.
The criminal justice system let off her murderers as well, there was no justice served even after the evidence was uncovered. Four high school boys were let off the bat for the murder of young Junko.
In her early days, Junko didn’t drink, smoke, and a lot of her classmates were fond of her. Her peers were not the only ones fond of her, for people found her beautiful. Another colleague tried to ask out Junko but she respectfully declined his question, he acted upon it in revenge and grew furious.
Hiroshi Miyano, the guy who got rejected, was a part of the yakuza at the time. The yakuza are the gangsters of Japan, and Miyano made sure that Junko would pay for the rejection.
While on the way home, Junko got assaulted and fell off her bike. It was all a fad, for Miyano offered to walk her home after the attack. She accepted, but was unaware that Miyano concocted a plan to kidnap her and torture her until she fell dead.
The four high school boys involved are Hiroshi Miyano, Nobuharu Minato, Kamisaku Jo, and Yasushi Watanabe.
When they first kidnapped Junko, Miyano raped her repeatedly in an abandoned warehouse. This was only the start of it, and they started to become more brutal. They forced Junko to call her parents and say to not look for her, she was running away from home and would be well off on her own.
The acts the minors committed were unimaginable. They raped her over 500 times, beaten, starved, and even forced her to masturbate in front of them with inanimate objects. These included and were not limited to: scissors, an iron bar, an exploding light bulb, an exploding firework, and roasting needles.
The result of this torture caused Junko’s body to not function properly, losing control of urinary and bowel movements. There was too much trauma for her to survive. Not only did the torture continue, but her parents knew this was happening at the same time. They were too scared of the consequences of the yakuza if they interfered, so they blamed their daughter for her actions.
Halfway in, Junko tried to call for help but they snatched the phone away from her. As a consequence, they set her legs and feet on fire, burned her eyelids, and smashed her fingers. It is horrible to hear about, and to even think about how much torture she went through is painful.
After winning a game of Mahjong, the boys grew furious and set her on fire. She later convulsed into seizures and died soon after.
Authorities found her body in a gallon drum a year later. Since the boys were underage, they received lenient sentences.
