We have another simple riddle that will give your brain the boost it needs.
How fast can you solve the riddle that 9 out of 10 people cannot solve?
The riddle is: What has 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in the afternoon, and 3 legs in the evening?
It is one of the oldest known riddles of the Sphinx, a mythical creature with the head of a human, a cat, a sheep or a falcon, and the body of a lion with wings.
In ancient Greek tradition, the Sphinx had the head of a woman, a body of a lion, and the wings of a bird. She guarded the Greek city of Thebes and asked travelers who wished to enter the city a riddle.
If they could answer the question, the Sphinx will allow you to go. But if you fail to get the right answer, the Sphinx would devour you.
Nobody got the right answer until Oedipus arrived and answered the riddle correctly.
The Sphinx was so upset she collapsed and destroyed herself. Oedipus then became the new king!
So what is the answer to this riddle: “What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?”
The answer is human: a person crawls on all yours when a baby, walks with two feet in the middle period of their life, and uses a walking stick (the ‘third’ leg) to move around when they are old.
There is another riddle of the Sphinx: “There are two sisters: one gives birth to the other and she, in turn, gives birth to the first. Who are the two sisters?”
The answer to this is “day and night.”
