Jordan Dean, 33, and Sydney Morton, 38, are the actors who will play the part of Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39 in an upcoming movie that will portray the couple’s dramatic exit from royal life.
The actors have been spotted on set in Vancouver for the first time since their roles were announced earlier this month.
New York-based Broadway actor Jordan Dean and actress and blogger Sydney Morton were seen stepping into the Sussexes’ shoes while filming several different scenes for the network’s latest royal-themed movie, Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace.
In photos from sets, Dean can be seen wearing khaki pants and a dark shirt while Morton fashions trench-style dress identical to what the pair wore during their Africa tour when she visited ActionAid in Johannesburg.
It was during their Africa trip that Meghan and Harry gave now-infamous interviews to their journalist friend Tom Bradby in which they first made clear their unhappiness over their royal roles.
The trip came just months before the couple quit the Royal Family and packed their bags to head to the US.
It was on that tour that ITV journalist and pal of the Sussexes Tom Bradby infamously asked Meghan if she was “OK”, to which she responded that “not many people” had asked that question, hinting at her unhappiness.
Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace is the third installment in a series being produced by Lifetime, with Dean and Morton the third set of actors to play the couple.
The movie promises to offer viewers a fictionalized account of “what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie,” and will “detail Meghan’s growing isolation and sadness, their disappointment that “The Firm” was not defending them against the press’s attacks and Harry’s fear that history would repeat itself and he would not be able to protect his wife and son from the same forces that caused his mother’s untimely death.
This appears to re-enact the couple’s version of events, which they shared with Oprah Winfrey during a much-watched special interview in March.
Meanwhile, in other pictures, Dean also stepped into his own version of Prince Harry’s trademark grey suit, modeling a design that is almost identical to the one worn by the Duke during the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in March.
It follows two movies about the Sussexes already released by Lifetime – 2018’s Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance and 2019’s Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, which concentrated on the early days of their relationship and their wedding.
John Whalen as Prince William, with Laura Mitchell as Kate Middleton, Steve Coulter as Prince Charles, and Maggie Sullivun as the Queen all will be comeback casts.
This year, Harry and Meghan made a lot of exposés and allegations about royal life. The couple also ditched their roles as senior royals and left the UK back in January 2020.
During their interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan told how she suffered mental health issues during her time working as a royal and that she felt suicidal while pregnant with Archie.
While Harry said his father and brother were “trapped” in the Royal firm and that one member of the Royal Family had questioned the duke about his unborn son’s skin color.
Harry’s documentary series with Oprah, The Me You Can’t See, came out last week, featuring a new set of criticisms against the royals.
“Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace” started filming this week and is expected to premiere in the fall.
