The uncle of Darnella Frazier, who was the girl that filmed George Floyd’s tragic murder, has passed away after a Minneapolis police vehicle crashed into his SUV on Tuesday.
The tragic incident involved a horrifying three-car mishap as cops were reportedly on a hot pursuit chase against a suspected robber who carried out a robber in the neighborhood in Minneapolis recently.
18-year-old Darnella Frazier spoke about the heartbreaking incident on Facebook where she announced her uncle’s death with great sorrow and disbelief.
Moreover, just last year, the 18-year-old rose to fame after being declared a brave hero for boldly recording the incident when Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes.
According to local media outlets, the cops were reportedly on a hot pursuit chase against the armed suspect. The incident is said to have taken place in a neighborhood which is located on the northern side of Minneapolis, during midnight hours.
Leneal Frazier was caught in the middle of the tragic incident as he made his way down the westbound, entering the intersection which is located between Lyndale and 41st. At that point in time, a police vehicle slammed right into his SUV’s driver’s side. And that all resulted in the most severe form of damage.
The suspect who was reportedly involved in the robbery and is also linked to a number of other crimes in the city of Minneapolis was also said to be behind a stolen car during those hours. Unfortunately, he managed to flee that arrest.
Police claim that investigations into the case are currently taking place where it is believed that another car that was present on the southbound side of Lyndale was also caught in between the horrifying collision.
One police officer was also critically wounded in the mishap and hence was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for swift treatment. Thankfully, he was released after medical experts treated his injuries.
Currently, investigators from Minnesota’s Patrol Department are checking to see whether or not the police squad’s car had its sirens and lights on during the collision.
