A pig born with the face of a monkey has sparked environmental pollution concerns among the locals.
In the city of Ciego de Avila, Cuba, a pig that looks incredibly like a monkey was born much to the astonishment of the locals.
According to the reports, the pig, which was branded the monkey pig, had a very short snout and eyes and ears like a monkey. Its mouth, too, looked very unusual for a pig.
As the monkey pig was born, locals were quick to gather around the animal’s owner who was proudly showing off his new pet to the locals.
While many were excited to see the bizarre creature, concerns of “environmental pollution” were soon raised, whereas people began suggesting that pollution might have been the cause of the ‘mutated’ animal.
As the local media explained, however, the veterinarian who checked the animal confirmed that the animal looked the way it did due to a rare congenital defect.
Sadly, the piglet died just four days after it came to this world.
Though its looks were definitely unique, this isn’t the first time monkey-like pigs have been reported around the world including in South America and China.
While some people put the blame on pollution, others suggested such things have always been happening but we only know about them now thanks to the internet.
Whatever the case is, one thing is sure. The monkey pig born in central Cuba attracted hordes of visitors who wanted to see its unique features. Sadly, it could not enjoy life for more than four days after it was born due to health complications.
