Shocking footage recently went viral from Afghanistan after members of the Taliban forces were seen trying to take an American-based Blackhawk helicopter for a joyride.
Recent statistics showed how the US spent around $83 billion on both pieces of training as well as equipment for the Afghan forces. But now, it may appear that they’ve entered into the wrong hands.
Some of that amount includes $2 billion worth of Humvees as well as $147 million in Black Hawk helicopters too. Meanwhile, Jake Sullivan who is the US National Security Advisor mentioned in a press conference last week how he feared that a fair amount of those weapons and equipment had fallen prey to the Taliban.
And now, the recent surprising video of a Taliban member trying his best to operate a new Blackhawk helicopter from an unknown destination is causing fear, panic, and outrage.
While many American officials claim they highly doubt that the Taliban would have any knowledge regarding the correct operation of the Blackhawk, others went on to criticize the country’s administration for not thinking about such fallouts before time.
The news follows an array of images as well as videos from fighting members of the Taliban who reportedly seized both US as well as Russian-made helicopters this past month. This occurred at a time when the group carried out a massive siege.
Currently, the US has busily evacuated its citizens, green card holders, as well as Afghans who worked with US troops during the past two decades. Recent statistics revealed how up to 87,900 individuals have been removed from Kabul but there are some fears that some might be left behind, right before the deadline.
In that case, the President revealed how he would have to rely on the Taliban for help in trying to continue with the evacuation mission, after August 31st. But how well that will go is still a very optimistic scenario in many people’s eyes.
