An Afghan woman gave birth to a baby girl just moments after escaping Taliban-occupied Afghanistan.
26-year-old Soman Noori was among the lucky evacuees who managed to catch one of the final UK evacuation flights from Kabul.
Heavily pregnant and determined to secure a better future for her unborn child, Soman arrived in Dubai before being transferred on a flight to Birmingham, UK.
As Turkish Airlines have since confirmed, the young lady went into labor during the eight-hour flight. Though no doctor was aboard the plane to help with the delivery, Soman delivered a healthy baby girl with the help of the crew.
After the miracle that took place 30,000 feet up in the sky, the plane briefly landed in Kuwait before continuing its journey to the UK.
According to the latest reports, both the child and the mother are doing well.
The 26-year-old reportedly boarded the evacuation plane in Kabul together with her husband, 30-year-old Taj Moh Hammat, and their two kids on Saturday morning.
They were one of the last lucky Afghan families to be safely evacuated from the war-torn country, whereas the Taliban have ordered that all foreign troops leave Afghanistan by August 31.
As the Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom has since also confirmed, the last evacuation flight devised solely to evacuate Afghan nationals from the country took place on Saturday afternoon.
According to the reports, the UK authorities will use the last two days to fully withdraw diplomatic representatives and service members from Kabul.
