A teacher from California is turning heads after she sparked outrage for getting her students to say the pledge to the Gay Pride flag, instead of the American one.
According to local media outlets, a recent investigation was launched by the school board after US-based teacher Kristin Pitzen put up a video on her TikTok account. This is where she explained how the US flag made her feel so uncomfortable. For this reason, she thought it was ‘okay’ for her to get her students to claim the pledge towards the gay pride flag.
Moreover, the teacher even boldly admitted to how she lost the American flag, just so she could find an excuse to hang up the Gay Pride one instead.
“Yes I did lose it on purpose,” she mentioned in an aggressive tone. Therefore, the incident sparked great outrage and even prompted her school district to carry out an investigation into the shocking matter.
Kristin who teaches English to high school students boldly mentioned in her video that she takes full allegiance to the queers because it’s much more comforting than the American flag.
However, what really shocked so many is how one of her students questioned her about the missing flag. On that note, Kristin ordered the student to take recite the pledge for the flag that hung in the class and that belonged to the Queer community.
The TikTok video has since then gone viral, sparking major backlash across the board. In the same way, many parents expressed their great anger and dismay at her behavior. “This teacher is imparting education on children, yet she’s ordering them to disrespect the American flag,” they mentioned.
Similarly, the backlash on Twitter had a similar tone. One user was quick to imply how it was an absolute disgrace to the words ‘liberty and justice for all because she was bringing out the hate from within and trying to impart it on others.
And just like that, the comments and negativity didn’t stop. Others felt that the teacher did not belong in the USA and should be removed immediately.
