A great grandfather just made the headlines after he reportedly transferred cash to the wrong person by mistake and now that stranger refuses to return his lost money.
According to local media outlets, the great grandfather spoke about how he lost a massive amount of money, $71,000 to be exact, right after he mistakenly transferred the cash to someone else. But now, when he’s asking the bank to assist him on the matter, they are blatantly refusing.
This leaves him in an awfully vulnerable position, as he also faces the risk of losing his own home.
The great grandfather was identified as Gordon Layton who claims he sent out a huge sum of money to a complete stranger on the 15th of June. After realizing his terrible mistake, the great grandfather acted in a swift manner. And that’s when he frantically began calling his bank for some assistance on the matter.
To his dismay, the banks claimed that it was just too late and nothing could be done because the funds he sent were already located in the stranger’s account.
On the other hand, local media outlets did confirm how the man who received the great grandfather’s sum on a false basis has been slapped with serious charges, while his court appearance is also due soon.
But the sadness of the elderly citizen continues as he has no choice but to lose his home, in case he can’t pay back the massive sum of money worth $71,000.
Gordon Layton who hails from Queensland’s Bundaberg said that he had sent out the money from his private bank account towards another ANZ account, dated June 14th. But little did he realize that he was doing a grave mistake.
Moreover, the incident actually took place because Gordon had mistakenly saved the respective ANZ account underneath the incorrect name. And that meant sending out money to the wrong person completely.
Now that’s a mistake that’s just too much to encompass but it’s really put this elderly citizen’s life in danger, in terms of losing his valuable home too.
