Britney Spears has returned to Instagram after taking a weekend trip to Palm Springs to celebrate her engagement with long-term boyfriend Sam Asghari.
Britney Jean Spears, 39, is an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. She is credited with influencing the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s and early 2000s, for which she is referred to as the “Princess of Pop”.
The princess of pop has fired up her page after taking a break and her account has been reactivated exactly as it was, complete with its 34 million followers and a brand-new post.
She returned to Instagram after a week off the app following a weekend trip to Palm Springs with her fiancé Sam Asghari, 27, as the two celebrated their engagement.
Sharing a picture of herself in a white peasant top with yellow embroidered flowers, and her blonde hair in a half-up, half-down style, the singer wrote: “Some shots from my weekend getaway to celebrate my engagement with my … holy s**t … FIANCÉ … I still can’t believe it !!!!”
She then joked: “I couldn’t stay away from the gram too long so I’m back already 💍😂🤷🏼♀️🤣 !!!! Psss I took these in Palm Springs with clip-in extensions 💁🏼♀️😉🌹!!!!!”
Early last week, Britney deleted her Instagram and after fans noticed Britney’s Instagram appeared to be deleted, they quickly took to Twitter to express their concern and fear for her.
But the pop star jumped on Twitter herself, to ease their worries and posted on Twitter saying: “Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement!!!! I’ll be back soon.”
Mathew Rosengart, Britney’s lawyer, also told Fox News in a statement at the time that “it was her decision” to step away from the social media platform and that “nothing else should be read into it.”
Britney had shared the news that Sam had popped the question on her social media a few days earlier and showed off her sparkling diamond ring in the process.
Alongside a picture of a topless Sam in a Superman pose, the singer wrote: “Words can’t even say how shocked I am … geez although the a**hole was way overdue !!!! It was definitely worth the wait ….
yes world … that beautiful f***ing man in that picture is MINE !!! I’m so blessed it’s insane !!!!”
The pair met on the set of Britney’s Slumber Party music video in 2016 and she has credited him with being a source of support during her conservatorship battle.
Brandon Cohen, Sam’s manager, shared the news in an additional statement, saying he was “proud to celebrate and confirm the engagement,” according to People.
He said: “The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them.”
Brandon concluded that Sam “couldn’t be happier to be involved and make this one-of-a-kind ring.”
An insider told TMZ that the singer has already taken the steps to work on a prenup. Sources close to the singer said her camp is already hard at work to get a prenup drafted. The singer’s net worth is reportedly around $60 million.
Britney’s decision to delete her Instagram account came after a recent post by the pop star in which she talked about being controlled by others.
The pop star, who has been fighting to be freed from a conservatorship she’s been under for 13 years, discussed knowing what it’s like to be “controlled by someone else.”
Her words on social media echo the sentiments she’s shared in court the past several months as she’s accused her father, Jamie Spears, of “conservatorship abuse.”
Just last week, her father filed a petition to end the pop star’s conservatorship, a move that shocked her fans as it came months after he shared his opposition to her attorney’s requests to step down as her conservator.
Jamie Spears has been in control of his daughter’s finances since 2009 after the singer underwent a series of involuntary holds. Britney has been locked in a court battle with her father over the past years as she’s worked to get control of her life back.
The engagement comes as her father Jamie has filed to terminate her conservatorship. The next hearing on the matter will be held on September 29.
This will be the third marriage for Britney, who wed her childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004. She and ex Kevin Federline has filed for divorce in 2006 after two years of marriage and they also share sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15.
