This is a beautiful story that just might restore your faith in humanity.

A heart-melting moment was recently captured on video that shows a kind-hearted man rescuing a dog whose leash had gotten trapped in an elevator.

The man happened to be at the right place and time. As he was making his way towards his apartment building which is located in Texas, Johnny Mathis had no idea that he would soon be termed as a lifesaver and hero for carrying out the most wonderful rescue.

His heroic actions saved a little pooch who came so near to his death.

“It all happened so quick,” he revealed to media reporters that interviewed him about his heroic actions.

Right after he stepped out of the elevator, his strong observation happened to notice his new neighbor for the elevator to arrive. He had his dog on a long leash and then in the blink of an eye, the unthinkable took place.

The neighbor went inside and did not realize that the dog did not follow her. The door soon closed and that literally trapped the dog outside, as it was still strongly attached to the leash.

“I don’t know how I happened to see it all at the last second. “I quickly yelled out to her so that I could alert her about what was going on but it appeared to be too late,” he explained.

And that’s when he knew that he had to do something quickly if he wished to see that dog alive. For that reason, he began to quickly unbuckle the dog’s collar from that leash, just a few moments before the massive tragedy struck.

After realizing how he had stepped in to save the pup and avoided the near-fatal error, the neighbor couldn’t be more grateful for his behavior.
