Alec Baldwin was spotted smiling from ear to ear while enjoying a sunny day out with his family.
For the first time since the tragic on-set incident and the death of Rust photography director Halyna Hutchins, the 63-year-old veteran actor was pictured in high spirits as he played with his children.
The photos were taken on Saturday as Alec was playing soccer with his kids in the Hamptons. The outing comes shortly after the Rust star was spotted buying a soccer ball at a nearby store.
Taking the time to unwind was also the actor’s wife, Hilaria, who was spotted riding her horse alongside her daughter on Sunday.
The family’s time off comes shortly after Baldwin and several of his colleagues were sued for alleged deliberate infliction of harm, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and assault in connection to the Rust on-set shooting and Hutchins’ premature death.
In her suit, script supervisor Mamie Mitchell named 22 defendants including assistant director David Halls, Alec Baldwin, armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, and six production companies among others.
As the script supervisor insisted, the veteran actor played Russian Roulette when he decided to hold the gun and point it at Hutchins without checking if it was loaded first.
“Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of the firearm,” Mitchell’s attorney, Gloria Allred, said.
“Mr. Baldwin chose to play Russian Roulette with a loaded gun without checking it and without having the armorer do so.”
Though some of the blame was also directed at the armorer, who allegedly failed to keep an eye on the weapons and ensure that they were secure, and the assistant director, who allegedly handed the gun to Baldwin and told him it was safe to use, the suit argues that Baldwin was responsible for ensuring the weapon was free of live bullets before using it.
“Mr. Baldwin cannot hide behind the Assistant Director to attempt to excuse the fact that he did not check the gun himself,” the complaint argues.
