A woman has been teased by her boyfriend that she was gaining weight and should take a pregnancy test, turns out she was pregnant.
Kristy Pearce, 32, has been encouraged by her boyfriend to take a pregnancy test since she was gaining weight, but the joke became real when the pregnancy tests came back positive.
After the test, Kristy and his boyfriend Matt Sylvester were shocked when they went to the doctors and find out that she is already 33 weeks pregnant.
In the interview on the Lowestoft Journal, Matt told them: “At first we were a bit shocked to be honest because we were not expecting a baby”.
The couple with their 9-year-old daughter Jessica welcomed their first son Jake Pearce into the world just five weeks later, two hours after Kristy’s water broke.
All of this thing started in October when Matt encouraged Kristy to do the test after noticing that she’d gained “a bit of weight”. Matt said: “In early October, it looked like Kristy was putting on a bit of weight”.
He continued: “So as a joke, we all got her to take a pregnancy test. She took the pregnancy test and it turned out she was pregnant. We then quickly went for a scan at the hospital and we were told that Kirsty was actually 33 weeks pregnant.”
The news wasn’t just a shock for the couple with the thought of a new baby boy arrival, their dearest family and friends also struggled to come to terms.
Matt explained: “Most of our friends and family thought we were just joking around with them and a lot didn’t believe us until jake was born. We had five weeks to sort everything out which was a bit of a rush but we got there eventually.”
While baby Jake is settling well at home Kristy and Matt say they are looking forward to raising him.
Baby Jake also gained weight and is now 3.7kg compared to the 3.6kg he was at birth and ready to celebrate his first Christmas with his loved ones and his relatives this coming Christmas holiday.
