The suspect accused of torching the iconic 50 foot tall Fox News Christmas tree, located outside the News Corp HQ in Manhattan has been freed.
According to local media reports, the homeless arsonist revealed some shocking details, including how he was thinking about torching that tree down to ashes, all day long.
The 49-year-old accused arsonist is now back on the street because all of the charges that he was slapped with were all misdemeanors, and that means a judge cannot set bail.
Meanwhile, experts spoke about how arson is only considered to be a felony in New York if the accused harms or makes attempts to harm an individual or if those certain activities that he indulges in are related to a hate crime.
But wait, that’s not all, Shocking details into the suspect’s background check went on to make some unique findings, including how he had a number of other criminal records against his name, including how he was exposing himself right outside the Ghislaine Maxwell trial that took place recently in the same city.
On the other hand, a spokesperson from the New York Police Department claimed that the man named Tamanaha had a very bizarre motive behind the act and they are still unclear as to what exactly that appeared to be.
“He had three prior arrests,” explained the spokesperson, adding how two had taken place earlier this year and the third was in 2015. They were mostly related to substance abuse.
Detectives from the New York Police Department firmly believe that the suspect’s motives did not appear to be related politically.
“Christmas trees just can’t be given an order of protection to prevent acts like Tamanaha from striking again. Therefore, security will need to stand guard in order to protect it,” they added.
While no one was hurt in the incident, many were shocked to see the accused walk out freely onto the streets again.
