A mother has been shamed and scolded on the internet after sharing a photo of her child’s school lunchbox with other parents.
While some parents seek approval from their own family, others resort to the internet to get honest opinions and advice on their parenting methods.
One such parent is a young mother from Australia who recently got blasted on Facebook after sharing a photo of the lunchbox she had prepared for her child in the Aldi Mums group.
In the picture, one can see yogurt, grapes, red pickled onions, popcorn, biscuits, and a ham and cheese sandwich.
While nothing looks out of the ordinary to most people at first glance, some parents were quick to accuse the young mom of putting her child in danger.
As concerned users pointed out, the ham and cheese sandwich could easily get spoiled in the Australian heat, leading to food poisoning or worse.
While the mom quickly revealed that she surrounds the lunchbox with ice packs to keep it cool, she wasn’t spared from criticism.
“Never gave my children meat on their school lunches in the summer heat,” someone wrote.
“Even if you put an ice brick in their lunch box it soon gets hot. What each classroom needs [is] a small fridge so kids can put their lunch in.
“They won’t get sick if they go without just one food item, but could get food poisoning from meat that has gone off. Plenty of other food items you can use as a substitute.”
Another user urged the mom to be careful due to the summer heat by adding: “They really need to supply fridges in classrooms so children can put their lunches and drinks in there.”
While some viewers were quick to take up arms against the young mom and her child’s school lunchbox, others defended her against the criticism.
“I had ham sandwiches at school when I was a kid, not ice bricks, I lived to tell the tale,” someone said.
“Back when we went to school your ham sandwich was in your lunchbox in your school bag out in the sun with no cold packs. We must have been tough back then,” another added.
