Superstar rapper Eminem was seen defying the rules put forward by the NFL where the celeb was spotted taking the knee during his recent Super Bowl halftime performance.
The NFL had reportedly put a ban on all players and stars against kneeling down while the US National anthem was being played, but it now appears that the rapper had no interest in following the rules as he was seen taking the knee.
Controversial reports are now coming in regarding how the NFL says it was aware and watching the rapper take part in the gesture, and has also denied preventing him from ‘taking the knee’.
The 49-year-old was loudly cheered on and applauded despite the NFL rules preventing stars from engaging in such behavior.
According to the rules and regulations put forward by the NFL, all-league and team personnel would stand and show respect for the country’s flag and anthem, adding how players that refused to do so would be requested to stay inside the locker room until after the anthem was performed in full.
After facing a series of backlash statements from players in the past, the NFL had decided that it would not be punishing or disciplining all those who defied the rules.
On the other hand, the NFL spokesperson claimed that they did watch all of the elements of the show very closely during the multiple rehearsals that carried on throughout the week. And now, they claim that they were well aware that the rapper was going to do just that.
As investigations into the incident continue, many are still wondering why a celeb was allowed to carry on with the act during his live performance while others were banned from doing the same.
The symbol of taking the knee has been taken as a sign of protest against racism and Eminem took part in the act, right after he finished a breakthrough live performance on his hit number ‘Lose Yourself’.
