Apple is making headlines after claiming to introduce a new voice for Siri that is more gender-neutral.

 

For those who may not know or be aware, Siri is the name given to Apple’s virtual assistant and now, it appears that people are going to be hearing a whole new voice when they command Siri for assistance. 

Apple confirmed the reports and stated how it has completed the testing phase for the gender-neutral sounding voice and that means iPhone users could soon be expecting to hear a new sound.

The new voice will reportedly be a part of the upcoming beta version of iOS 15.4 that is scheduled for release on Tuesday.

This was recorded by a member from the LGBTQ+ community as revealed by Apple officials who spoke to Axios.

Meanwhile, in case you’re wondering about what it just might sound like, well, they’ve revealed that too.

Think along the lines of a sound that’s less explicitly male or even female. Apple also claimed that the new voice which is simply called ‘Voice 5’ will be a part of the iOS beta and is remarkably different from what so many users have been accustomed to hearing.

“You’ll find that it’s different from the brand’s English-speaking options from the past”- they claimed.

While the company has failed to provide any other relevant or additional details about the interesting reveal, experts believe that the final version of the gender-neutral voice will be expected to come out for members of the general public in just a few weeks, with the new software update.

The new voice claims to be a major part of the push by Apple to include more diverse options in regards to Siri’s voice.

Just last April, the brand also included voices that had been recorded by two actors and even stopped using just a female voice for the default option. Instead, they asked users to select between the two gender options.
