China is stepping in amid high tensions between Ukraine and Russia, offering breakthrough ceasefire negotiations between both countries.
According to local media reports, China says it is willing to step in and act as a mediator for both sides while condemning President Putin’s actions to invade Ukraine.
“We deeply regret the war”- mentioned China which is known to be a notable ally for Russia. Therefore, many feel this could be President Putin’s final chance to get back on track as the entire West has opposed his decisions to begin a military operation in Ukraine.
Beijing has also mentioned how Ukraine was very keen on strengthening its relations and communications with China.
Recently, the Chinese foreign minister claimed that the situation taking place in Ukraine at the moment needs to end and should instead be resolved through dialogue and negotiations, instead of war.
On the other hand, China was seen abstaining from voting on the UN resolution, where it used the platform to condemn Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine.
This particular abstention was seen as a huge victory for the West, after the occurrence of talks that took place at the last minute.
Sources also spoke about how Russian President Vladimir Putin is putting heavy reliance upon its relations with China, hoping President Xi Jinping can assist him in bailing out of this current tough situation comprising of huge Western sanctions.
Just last month, China and Ukraine celebrated their 30 years of friendship and strong ties where their deepening political trust was hailed. In the same way, Ukraine is also deemed to be a major hub in the Belt and Road project in China, adding great value strategically to this friendship as well.
