A woman has opened up about her bizarre experience and revealed how her ‘friend’ charged her $20 for the dinner she invited her to.
Amber Nelson is a podcast host who suffered a big dilemma after responding to her friend’s dinner invitation only to be charged $20 for the pasta meal after she was done eating.
As the young lady revealed on Twitter, her so-called friend casually demanded payment and sent her a Venmo request after she was already done eating.
“Got invited to someone’s place for dinner and they charged me for it… this is weird, right?” Nelson wrote in her tweet.
“This makes me not want to accept offerings in the future. My southern Grandma is rolling in her grave,” she later added.
Soon enough, the tweet went viral and the majority of people condemned the host’s behavior and questioned whether there were ulterior motives behind her friend’s dinner offering.
“I’m literally aghast at how fiscally irresponsible you have to be to make vodka pasta for two people at $20 per head. Like, did she buy a handle of Grey Goose to put in it or?!” someone questioned.
“If you invite me to your house, offer me food, and then demand I pay you for it, I’m keying your car on the way out,” another baffled viewer wrote.
The third joked: “You should ask them to show you the permit or license for their restaurant. If they say they don’t have one, tell them that you’re obligated to report them to the health department for running an unlicensed food service business.”
Apparently, such bizarre cases are not all that rare at all. One man shared: “I invited someone over because I was cooking dinner and told them to bring some drinks and they charged me for the drinks the day after.”
