The wife of Hollywood legend Bruce Willis has spoken out after revealing the actor’s heartbreaking diagnosis.
Earlier this week, Bruce Willis’ family – including his wife, ex-wife, and his children – released a joint statement in which they revealed that the 67-year-old Die Hard star is suffering from aphasia and confirmed that he is retiring.
Aphasia is a brain disorder that causes a decline in cognitive abilities and the comprehension and expression of language.
Following the shocking announcement, friends and co-stars of the Pulp Fiction star have spoken out to pay a tribute to the actor who added more than 140 credits to his name.
Now, Willis’ model wife Emma Heming posted a heartfelt message in which she thanked her husband’s supporters for all the positive messages.
“Your love, support, compassion, prayers really help. I’m grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Heming said in her Instagram post.
Her message comes just days after she and the rest of Bruce’s family shocked the world with news of the actor’s brain condition.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” they wrote.
“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
In their joint statement, the family added: “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. “
We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. “As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.”
