It’s a huge victory and a mega wish fulfilled for Lewis Hamilton after rulers at Formula One have reportedly axed renowned race director Michael Masi.
A major inquiry was held on Monday and that’s when the controversy surrounding the Grand Prix was discussed. However, sources claim that Michael Masi’s actual fate was still in the balance, even after the major hearing.
Other reports have gone about revealing how Abu Dhabi recently witnessed Max Verstappen pass by Lewis Hamilton on the last lap of the race to win the F1 title.
However, due to great skepticism and complaints brought forward, a leading investigation was conducted in the events that led up to the final lap. And for that reason, they were investigated to the core, only to reveal some shocking findings by the FIA which is the sport’s governing body.
Mercedes was the first to highly criticize all the decisions and calls made by the race director. Moreover, some claim that Masi’s decisions even cost Lewis Hamilton a record eighth F1 world championship as well.
The recent leading decision of the new FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem to fire Masi, who is deemed to be a top official, has truly undermined Max Verstappen’s win.
But at the same time, despite the decision, Mercedes has opted to not have the result overturned. And this was confirmed when one of the team’s spokesman confirmed that Mercedes will not choose to go legal in regards to the matter.
This means Verstappen still remains the champion of the 2021 F1 championship. And that makes Hamilton second but truly a little bitter, considering what really went on that day.
Now, the Briton is stated to line up at the Mercedes car launch tomorrow, along with his new team member named George Russell.
