New statistics from the New York Police Department have proved how crime rates in New York City are at an all-time high.

The report spoke in detail about how violent crimes on the subway were increasing at an alarming rate but that was just the start of the horror revealed. 

There was also a massive surge in robberies by nearly 72% with nearly 165 being reported this year and all the way up to April 10. This was in striking contrast to last year’s stats. 

It was interesting to see how felony assaults were also at an all-time increase, rising by 28%, and 169 cases being reported so far. During the same period last year, there were 132, as mentioned by the Compstat data.

R*pes doubled from 2 to 4, when compared to data from last year, and many wondered what fate lies ahead for the city because it’s not even the mid of the year yet and the facts and figures were mind-blowing in a negative sense. 

These new figures are yet to take into consideration the recent attack on a Brooklyn subway that came into effect last week where a gunman opened fire on subway riders, leaving dozens injured.

Just yesterday, horrifying reports spoke about gunshots being fired across a subway in the Bronx but little is known about the incident as investigations are currently taking place at the moment.

Sources from the NYPD also spoke in detail about how non-violent crimes were also increasing underground. This included grand larcenies increasing by nearly 110% from last year.

Overall, the majority of the crimes being reported from subway stations increased by 68% from 367 to about 617 through April 10.

Thankfully, there was one slightly positive stat that showed how murders in the city had gone down from 3 to 2 this year. But again, not too many are hopeful as the year is far from ending.
