French President Emmanuel Macron has come under attack by protesters, just days after being re-elected as the country’s head of state.
According to reports from local media outlets, the French leader was immediately rushed away by security when a sudden scuffle had broken out amid protesters who took to the streets to voice their dismay about the President’s re-entry into power, just days after he celebrated his victory.
Macro was said to be out on his first-ever public outing since winning this year’s elections but it certainly did not go as planned when he came under attack.
One protester is said to have hurled a bucket of cherry tomatoes at the French leader, forcing him to duck for cover, and then hurried by his team of bodyguards, who successfully transferred him to another location that was more secure.
The incident is believed to have taken place at a food market in Cergy, as confirmed by local news outlets in the region,
One witness described the incident as absolutely hilarious while those in favor of the leader condemned the act and called it outright ridiculous, asking people to respect the country’s head of state whenever he’s out in public.
But this is certainly not the first time that the French leader has come under attack. We’ve also witnessed him being slapped by a member of the public while meeting and greeting citizens.
This just goes to show that while he may be back in power, the opposition against him continues to increase as revealed by incidents like these.
The President’s security team immediately responded by opening up an umbrella and preventing any more direct objects from being sent his way in a hostile and projectile manner.
