In what is being described as a major setback for Meghan Markle, the popular streaming device Netflix has dropped her animated series project titled Pearl.
The news comes amid the company’s decisions to be a part of a number of cutbacks that have arisen after a fall in the platform’s number of subscribers.
The report was confirmed by the Deadline yesterday, which claims the project was officially canceled.
Meanwhile, local media sources added how the animated series was said to be in its development phase and had been created through the efforts of the Duchess of Sussex herself. This was via her Archwell Productions.
Both Meghan and Prince Harry had created the project during the fall season of 2020, where their main goal was to release a series of scripts, documentaries, features, docuseries, and children’s programming. Morover, the project was being hailed by experts as the first animated series of its kind that was being made by the renowned production house.
Insider reports have even gone as far as mentioning how the company is still optimistic about whether or not they wish to move ahead with the Archwell deal as they’ve still got a series of projects planned.
Common examples included the Heart of Invictus which is believed to have followed the couple’s recent presence at the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.
But it’s not just the Duke and Duchess that have been axed by Netflix.
The platform has simultaneously canceled a total of two other projects and they’ve all been children’s series.
Interestingly, they’ve also gone as far as firing staff members, leaving so many people concerned about their fate and future while working with the company.Netflix has also shocked plenty after they decided to remove their password sharing feature through which a number of people were being given free access to the platform’s shows without having to subscribe for the service.
