France’s Louvre Art Gallery recently came under attack by a male visitor who dressed himself up as an elderly female woman in a wheelchair.
According to local media reports, the visitor slammed a giant custard pie at the Mona Lisa painting, leaving visitors absolutely stunned and lost for words.
The man was then seen being escorted away by the gallery’s security guards who rushed to grab a hold of him before he managed to do more destruction.
The incident is reported to have taken place just a few hours before closing time on Sunday night, while visitors were just about to leave the premises. But little did they know that they would be for an entire episode of the drama.
The attacker was said to be a climate activist who was last heard yelling: “Think of the Planet!”
Witnesses present during the horrifying incident claim the man was wearing a wig and was also dressed up in female attire. Therefore, it was not easy to identify him as a male because that’s how good his entire get-up was.
All of a sudden, he rolled past the famous art masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci and was said to be in a wheelchair before he got up, all of sudden on his feet, and slammed a custard pie across the face of the famous painting.
Shortly after that, the attacker threw a giant bouquet of roses in the air before being tackled down to the ground by the security in the gallery, moments later.
Thankfully, no damage was said to be done to the painting which is known to be a worldwide attraction for decades.
For those who may not be aware, the famous painting is stated to be inside a giant bulletproof glass. Hence, the cream-filled pie was smeared across the glass and not the painting.
The Louvre art gallery has issued a public statement regarding the incident and is currently working with the French police as they carry out an immediate investigation regarding the matter.
