Country singer Toby Keith has opened up about his diagnosis and provided an update on his condition.

In a touching statement shared on his social media, the ‘Should’ve Been A Cowboy’ hitmaker revealed he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year.

He also explained that he has taken an aggressive approach to battling the disease as he revealed he had spent the last six months undergoing treatment including surgery and chemo.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery,” the singer said.

“So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

With the illness taking its toll on the country star, it remains unclear if he will be able to deliver on his scheduled tours including the upcoming performances at Ribfest in Illinois and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Following the bombshell announcement, however, the Ohio State Fair announced that the singer would not be performing on July 28.

It is believed that an upcoming surgery could be the reason why Keith’s July tour has been canceled well in advance.

The big revelation comes more than a year after the country star received the National Medal of Arts from former president Donald Trump.
