The Duchess of Cornwall and the future Queen Consort reportedly called Meghan Markle a minx and believed she was a troublemaker.
According to Royal biographer Tom Bower, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was never fond of the American actress and silently believed that her antics would end in tears.
As The Sun reported, Bower has opened up about the relationship between the two duchesses after Meghan and Harry left the UK and started their life in a $14 million mansion in Montecito, California.
Explaining how the pair never saw eye to eye, Bower told The Sun how Camilla was always very suspicious of the American and how she thought Meghan was ungrateful.
“From the outset, Camilla was suspicious about the adventuress from Los Angeles. She found it hard to believe that Meghan would sacrifice her career and independence to serve silently as a team player devoted to the monarchy,” the royal expert, who is currently working on Meghan’s biography, said.
Despite her thoughts, however, Camilla allegedly remain “tight-lipped” and continued to advise and provide comfort to her husband, Prince Charles, as the rift between him and his son grew bigger and bigger.
“She could comfort him that while his authority is challenged by the Sussex’s, he would emerge victorious,” Bower added.
“During those inevitably endless, tortured and inconclusive conversations, Camilla is the sort who would refer to Meghan as ‘that minx’ — the self-seeking troublemaker whose antics will always end in tears.”
Bower’s comments come as the Queen announced Camilla will become Queen Consort after Charles ascends the throne.
Following the announcement, Meghan and Harry remained quiet, whereas Bower believes their silence is a “way of declaring war.”
“Perhaps the Sussexes’ deafening silence is Meghan’s way of declaring war. It is believed that she has never liked Camilla, and I am sure the feelings are reciprocated,” Bower said.
