A woman has spoken out and demanded justice after a botched cosmetic procedure left her looking like a lizard.
59-year-old Jayne Bowman from Hampshire, England, paid $600 for fibroblast therapy in a bid to tighten the skin around her neck after it grew increasingly loose following her weight loss.
While the procedure was meant to encourage tissue regeneration by sending an electric current through the skin in the form of high-frequency zaps, the treatment resulted in hundreds of red blotches on the woman’s neck.
Though the spotting eventually faded, Jayne insists that her ordeal was a “living nightmare” and that she was left looking like a lizard after the botched procedure.
“I don’t go out without a scarf on. In fact I don’t like going out at all, I’d rather go out in the rain where I’ve got a hood up and nobody can see me,” she said.
“I’m not slating all beauticians because they’re not all the same, but there are many of them out there that are bad. Stick to professional people.”
The 59-year-old has since called for a tougher crackdown on unqualified medical practitioners and warned people of the importance to do their research before choosing a person to perform on them.
She also admitted that she found her contact via Facebook after asking other people for recommendations.
“I checked out her page and saw she had great reviews and all the qualifications. But when I got home my neck felt like it was on fire,” Jayne added.
“Weeks later there was no change at all apart from horrible scarring. I had hundreds of brow dots all over my chest and chest. I looked like a lizard!
“All I was left with was unsightly red dots all over my neck. I couldn’t bear going out of the house because of the awful scarring.”
To make matters worse, the woman was allegedly contacted by the police who told her the beautician reported her for harassment after she complained about her and left a negative review.
“I was utterly astonished. But I knew I was in the right when the other people messaged to say that the same had happened to them,” Jayne recalled.
“Now I am fighting hard and have even launched a petition calling for much stricter regulations in the beauty industry.”
As the 59-year-old claimed, she’s not after money. Instead, she wants justice for people who are “being butchered” by beauticians.
“It honestly has been a living nightmare and I am living with the scars to prove it,” she concluded.
