An expecting mom spoke out and slammed her sister after the latter demanded she changes the name she had already chosen for her incoming baby.
As the 24-year-old lady revealed in her Reddit post, her 30-year-old sister already has one child, Agatha, and is expecting another, Eugene, at the same time as her.
While her older sister proudly announced the name of the boy she is expecting in front of the entire family, the mom-to-be decided to keep it a secret for some time.
The topic, however, reemerged when the siblings had a private chat and the older sister inquired about the woman’s name choice for her baby girl.
“My sister asked me outright and I told her. It’s Oceana. And she was not impressed at all,” the 24-year-old revealed in her Reddit post.
“She asked me what was wrong with a name like Elizabeth or maybe a little Beatrice or Margaret. I told her nothing for those who like those names but they are not for my husband or me.
“She then said there’s always Emily, Haley, Anna, Marie. I told her to stop. That we knew our girl’s name before we even knew she was a girl and it wasn’t going to change for her.”
The mom-to-be went on to reveal that her sister insisted Oceana would envy the names of her siblings – Agatha and Eugene – when she grows older.
The sister also blasted her sibling’s name choice in a Facebook group where she sought advice on how to change her sister’s mind and force her into changing the name of her baby.
“She went on a long rant about how my taste in names is terrible and how she’s shocked I would like a name like this. That I am ruining my child’s life as I am rejecting all the beautiful, lovely names of the last several years,” the 24-year-old added.
“That her Agatha and Eugene are going to be envied and hated by my child and all future kids of mine for their gorgeous names.”
Furthering the gap between the siblings, the older sister continued to suggest other names for the mom-to-be’s daughter in the weeks that followed, prompting her younger sibling to tell her to “stop ranting to the world” and “focus on her own kids” instead.
The sister, however, refused to budge and went on to accuse her sibling of being dismissive and insist that she has “genuine concerns” about the child’s future because of her name.
The distressed mom-to-be has since asked for advice on Reddit where the majority of viewers sided with her and told her to stand up to her sister.
