A pregnant woman has shared how her sister-in-law accused her of stealing her thunder by announcing her pregnancy because she is also expecting her first child.
The woman took to Reddit and explained that her husband told the incredible news to his mother when they found out that she was pregnant.
My brother-in-law was present during the announcement, and he told the news to his wife, who is also expecting a baby.
“It took two months for me to get pregnant, and we were so ecstatic when we found out that my husband HAD to tell his mum. My brother-in-law was there when my husband called, so he knows, and by default, my sister-in-law knows too,” the frustrated mom-to-be wrote.
“The thing is, my husband and I knew four weeks ago that my sister-in-law was pregnant because she kind of did it behind my brother-in-law’s back. She went off the pill without telling him, and my brother-in-law was planning on moving back with his mum until they reconciled. Which they did.”
The woman also explained that because her brother-in-law and sister-in-law already knew about her pregnancy, they have decided to tell everyone.
But instead of being happy for the mom-to-be, the sister-in-law started telling their family and friends that she was trying to copy her.
“My sister-in-law is out telling everybody I’m a copier and I try to be her, and I got pregnant on purpose to upstage her.”
People on Reddit were shocked by the sister-in-law’s reaction. One person commented: “I love these posts where people think someone is racing them to conceive, like your brother-in-law and sister-in-law were even considered when you decided to monumentally change your lives and procreate. Your sister-in-law needs to give her head a wobble.”
Another wrote: “You are pregnant. You’re allowed to be pregnant. You’re allowed to tell people that you are pregnant.
“I would have been excited if someone close to me was pregnant at the same time I was! I would’ve loved to have a friend or family member to talk to about our pregnancies and commiserate with about the aches and pains and whatnot.”
