A young woman has spoken out and recalled the time she nearly broke into tears after a stranger accused her of being a bad mother.
As the lady in question revealed in her viral Reddit post, she is a mother of a two-year-old boy.
One day, the boy wasn’t feeling very well and after the mother was “98 percent sure” he had an ear infection, she took him to the local hospital where she usually takes her kids for a check-up.
In the waiting area outside their doctor’s office, the mom let her son roam around because there is allegedly no designated play area for children waiting for their turn to be seen by the doctor.
Though her son was wandering around the room, the mom insisted he followed her rules which mean no yelling and no bothering other people.
“They like to do typical kid things like walking in circles around empty chairs or looking at the art on the wall and tell me what shapes are there,” the mom explained.
The situation quickly escalated, however, after one female patient in her 50s found the boy’s walking and babbling inappropriate and started huffing and hissing in response.
“This woman begins to huff and sigh and seem very irritated. I thought maybe it was the wait time since it was taking a good minute for either of us to be called back. Then the woman kind of hissed ‘I can’t believe people let their kids act like that,’” the mother added.
“I asked her if she was annoyed by my kid and she said ‘Yes, he’s so loud! He should be sitting quietly!’ I told her ‘Ma’am he’s two, he’s not hurting anything or screaming, he isn’t near you.’ She got all huffy and told me ‘You need to be a better mum and control your son!’”
Concluding her post, the mother admitted she was “floored” by the stranger’s comment that nearly made her break into tears.
“I really felt like crying. But it may be rude and out of line to let him walk around and talk about everything instead of trying to keep him in place. Am I the a**hole?” she asked.
After the topic went viral, the mother was in for hundreds of mixed responses.
While some people suggested she should ensure that her son is sitting in her lap or next to her while waiting for his turn instead of walking freely around the waiting area, others said the lady may have acted up because she was having problems of her own and didn’t want to be bothered.
