A 17-year-old girl with autism is still missing four months after she escaped from her bedroom window.
According to reports, Kaylee Jones’ parents confiscated her phone after they found her chatting online with men.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook on Friday and said: “Heartbreaking that we are FOUR months later and Kaylee Jones is still missing.”
Despite receiving tips, police said there had been no solid leads established but asked the public again to stay vigilant.
Jones’ parents, Brenda and Daniel, believed that their 17-year-old daughter had been human trafficked after they discovered that she had been chatting online with old men.
They also slammed local law enforcement for their ‘lack of effort’ in finding their daughter.
“The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has since day one been committed to locating Kaylee and have a team of dedicated Investigators working this case and tirelessly following every lead and working in conjunction with many law enforcement agencies throughout the state and the country,” the post read.
Multiple agencies including the FBI, the US Marshals Service and the Secret Services have contributed resources in the search for the teen.
Last month, a vigil was held in Carrol County and lanterns were released in the sky over Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Jones’ family announced that they are offering $5,000 for information that lead to their daughter’s return.
“My daughter means everything,” her father expressed. “Our daughter means everything to us. We miss her dearly, her smiles, her personality.
“We have just ripped ourselves apart trying to think of how we could’ve avoided this and we did what we thought we could do. We tried our best.”
Jones has brown eyes, brown hair, weighs 135 lbs, and stands at 5ft 8in. Her birthname is Jillian Paige Temple.
