A woman has been criticized by her family for her decision to invite only three of her sister’s ten kids to her wedding.
Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that she and her husband didn’t want to have a big ceremony because of their budget so they kept the event as small as possible.
“We only invited close family members and friends,” she wrote.
The woman said that her parents and relatives were not very religious but her sister and her husband were ‘hardcore Christians,’ believing that having many children was ‘God’s will.’
She then revealed that her sister has ten children and it was impossible for the couple to invite all of them to their wedding.
“Obviously, inviting all of my nieces and nephews would be quite a cost. My wedding isn’t child-free, but my husband and I decided it would be fairest if we only invited her three eldest kids.”
However, her sister was shocked to hear their decision and even called her a ‘Bridezilla’ for not inviting all of her children.
The woman talked to her sister and explained why they had restriction but the sister was ‘really offended’ and accused her of picking favorites.
“I told her I’m sorry but 10 kids is a big cost on our wedding budget and that we tried to be as fair as possible,” she went on.
On her big day, the sister brought only three of her children but faced questions from relatives who were wondering where the rest of the kids were.
“After the wedding, my sister has been very off around me lately. She told me she ‘understands how I feel about her babies’ and said that I’m a bad sister and a terrible aunt, and has accused me of not respecting her religion and lifestyle,” the woman added.
People on Reddit were quick to show their support for the woman, with one person writing: “I’m thinking the older children might be happy to attend the wedding where they can enjoy themselves without having to watch over their brothers and sisters.”
Another wrote: “If your sister was so upset she could’ve offered to contribute towards the costs. A consequence of having a load of kids is that people aren’t going to want to cater to all of them at events because it is a big cost.”
