The world’s richest person has officially purchased Twitter.
Elon Musk has bought the leading digital platform for a staggering $44 billion in what is being described as one of the most dramatic acquisitions ever.
If you’ve been fortunate enough to be following the drama unravel since day one, you’ll know really well how this new deal was a long time coming.
From so many U-turns to finally making a decision that prevented the Tesla CEO from appearing in court, the list of dramatic twists and turns was plenty.
But the firm’s employees are fearing the worst as the CEO had previously outlined some major changes including reducing the workforce and implementing stricter rules to ensure the app makes enough revenue to overcome the great losses witnessed in recent times.
Musk says the app will not be a hellscape under his ownership. Moreover, he has also vowed to make it a platform that promotes freedom of speech and where everyone is welcome. This includes the likes of those that have been banned in the recent past like Kanye West and US President Donald Trump.
The deal was confirmed on Thursday after the billionaire accused the organization of hiding the real statistics of its spam and bot accounts.
The mega announcement came in the form of a tweet where Musk happily announced his new role as the firm’s CEO. Similarly, he sent out another tweet to the company’s advertisers, giving them full assurance that anything and everything would be said without any user facing the consequences of doing so.
Well that strategy isn’t being applauded by many who feel this would just lead to utter chaos on the app but when you’ve got a man like Musk who is known for speaking his mind, what more can one expect, right?
Musk seems to be inching close to his all-time favorite goal of being a digital town square because this buyout is definitely a major deal in the tech world.
