We often hear stories about weddings getting ruined by a family member or friend’s engagement or pregnancy announcement.
So when this woman found out that she was pregnant, she didn’t want to announce it during her sister-in-law’s big day as she didn’t want to steal the spotlight.
But she was left shocked when her family disliked her decision and even scolded her for not sharing the happy news at the wedding.
The mother-to-be took to Reddit and explained: “I didn’t want to overshadow them on their big day. They said I could have just said it then and they would have been ok with it.
“They told me I was an a****** because people could have been enjoying their evening and I ruined it and wasted a lot of time and money.”
She then asked fellow Reddit users whether she had done the right thing by waiting for the wedding day to pass by before making her pregnancy announcement.
One person commented: “So they’re saying their wedding was so terrible that they needed you to create a reason to celebrate? I’m at a total loss here.”
Another wrote: “Did she mean that you wasted everyone’s time by gathering all of them together and hosting a dinner? That it wasted their evening to even be there? I think that is what she was trying to say.
“It’s easy for her to say now that you could have said it then because you don’t own a time machine and can’t go back and announce it. I think she is annoyed now because her ‘newlywed’ status is over as your ‘engaged and pregnant’ status has taken over, in her mind.”
