The world’s second richest person is planning on giving away most of his wealth, as recently confirmed by Sky News.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was very serious when he opened up about his striking decision to donations that would help serve those causes that are very close to his heart.
Bezos mentioned how he was trying to build the capacity to assist causes that he’s been wanting to serve for a while now. And that includes matters like climate change.
The billionaire will reportedly donate around $124 billion of his wealth to charitable causes during his lifetime, he added.
The 58-year-old is stated to be the world’s second richest man by Forbes, falling shortly behind Tesla and Twitter CEO, Elon Musk.
Moreover, this news is shocking because it marks the first time he has gone about claiming to give away most of his funds.
In the past, we’ve seen the billionaire gets criticized for not adding his signatures to the famous ‘Giving Away Pledge’- a campaign that was first founded by Warren Buffet and Bill Gates.
This was an initiative that was designed to motivate the rich to give more of their money to the community and those causes that mean the most.
During a recent interview by CNN, he was asked directly if he really had plans to give away his money and that’s when he firmly nodded to say yes, he does.
Speaking directly to the broadcaster from the US, he adds that he and his lover Lauren Sanchez were doing a lot of things to make sure they could give back to the community in the best way possible.
In the same way, he says that the money would go back to causes that work to tackle the issue of climate change and to help support people that can unify humanity together too.
