Twitter CEO Elon Musk is now causing another major uproar in the company after scrapping free lunches for all employees.
Many people who survived the first firing spree and now going to be paying for their own meals, Musk confirmed through a recent Tweet. According to him, it just does not make sense to keep on increasing costs when they could be easily limited.
For now, the decision to end free meals for Twitter workers is taking center stage at the firm’s headquarters in San Francisco and as you can imagine, many people aren’t happy.
Musk justified his actions and behavior by adding how such decisions as free food were costing the firm around $400 per worker and it was not making sense.
The world’s richest person took command of Twitter last month when he chose to acquire the firm for a staggering value of $44 billion. And as soon as he came into power, he made sure there was plenty of drama. Therefore, we saw the likes of leading executives get fired while the company’s workforce was reduced by half.
Right after that, he made it mandatory for employees to come to the office as he eliminated remote working conditions too.
Taking to his Twitter account on Sunday, Musk explained how the offering of free lunches was unsustainable because almost no one came to the office.
He similarly set out estimates that went on to speak about how much meals were costing the organization a staggering figure of $13 million every year. But it was rather embarrassing for Musk to see one employee who reportedly quit the firm after he took over mention that it was a lie.
According to her, such meals cost the firm a value that was nothing more than $25 a day.
