Kate and William were seen chatting with an 8-year-old fan who dressed as a Grenadier Guard to greet them in style during their trip to Boston.
While touring Greentown Labs in the Massachusetts city as part of their first royal engagement in the States in the last eight years, the Prince and Princess of Wales met an 8-year-old boy who greeted them in a Grenadier Guard costume.
Surprised and amazed by the boy’s excitement, the future King arranged for a special one-on-one meeting with the youngster behind the security cordon.
In adorable pictures from the scene, the 8-year-old fan of the British Royal Family was seen handing a bouquet of roses to Kate while enjoying a light conversation with the couple.
Following the encounter, the boy was identified as Henry, a student of the British International School of Boston.
“First of all, it was crazy meeting the prince and princess. It was crazy. I wasn’t actually that nervous now that I think about it when I actually did it,” he said.
“They said ‘Oh my goodness, thank you so much.’ They said they loved the costume, like everybody else.
“It was like absolutely insane because it was my first time meeting the royal family.”
Speaking of the boy’s private meeting with the high-ranking royals was also Henry’s mother, Melissa Teixeira, who said:
“That was surreal, that was really spectacular. It was a real experience what a beautiful day in Somerville.
“I think they were surprised to Henry as a British guard. The Princess is terrific with children of course. She just gave him great compliments and he gave her compliments so it was a really nice experience.”
She added: “Henry did get to mention his visit to London and he asked where George was and she shared that he was in school. She asked if he should be in school and he said yes – and laughed of course.
“We think the royal family are wonderful people. We follow them as much as we can and they’ve never before been to Sommerville.”
