King Charles had an egg thrown at him only one month after a man in his 20s got arrested for pulling the same stunt in York.
Bodyguards were quick to move the King away from the scene on St. George’s Square in Luton.
According to Bedfordshire Police, a suspect had been taken into custody and is being questioned.
The monarch seemed to be unperturbed by the incident and continued to shake hands with people waiting behind the railings after being escorted to a different spot.
This comes only four weeks after Patrick Thelwell, 24, was arrested for throwing an egg at King Charles and Queen Consort during their visit to York.
The couple traveled to the city on November 9 for the unveiling of a statue in honor of the late Queen at York Minster when a man threw four eggs at them.
The egg-thrower was later identified as Patrick Thelwell, a former University of York student who stood as a Green Party candidate in York for the local elections in 2019.
The new monarch appeared calmed as he met members of the public during his visit to Luton, only a day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spoke of a ‘dirty game’ in the bombshell teaser for their Netflix documentary.
The Royal Family is braced for further allegations from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when the show launches on this week.
Charles was beaming while talking to members of the public at the newly built Guru Nanak Gurdwara.
He removed his shoes and wore a Ramaal headscarf in the temple where he greeted people and made a namaste gesture.
The monarch also bowed in front of the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, and sat cross-legged on the floor.
During his visit, he also met women in the kitchen who prepared meals for hundreds of people every day.
