A mother was left fuming with anger after her son got suspended from school over his “simple” shot haircut.
As 37-year-old Kirsty Sabin from Nottinghamshire, England, revealed, she took her 14-year-old son to a barber where he got a short haircut with a shaved line at the side of his head.
While she didn’t think much of it at first, the mom was left stunned when her child was sent home from school over the new style. The boy also told her that he was suspended from school “until his hair grows back.”
The angry mom has since spoken out and demanded an apology from Bulwell Academy saying the school needs to review its “outdated” policies.
She also explained that her son has ADHD and that the new cut helps him boost his confidence and perform better.
“I think they are at such a vulnerable age right now. And they had a long time out of school because of the pandemic – it was hard for them,” Kirsty told Nottingham Post as she slammed the school and demanded her son is allowed to return to class because they did “nothing wrong.”
“This is a very crucial year for him with GCSEs coming up as well.”
The mom went on to call for an apology while standing her ground saying the school’s policies are absurd.
It is unlikely, however, that Kirsty will reach any agreement with the school, whereas the spokesperson for Bulwell Academy has since spoken out to defend their policies.
“Our uniform policy has been in place for a number of years and makes clear that shaved patterns and unnatural hair coloring are not allowed, and we work hard to ensure that this is made clear to our pupils and their families,” the representative told MailOnline.
“We continue to work collaboratively with pupils and their parents so that that all pupils are supported to reach their full potential.”
