Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke has turned 97.
The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins star was spotted in high spirits just days before his 97th birthday when he told the reporters what he had planned for his big day.
Strolling through Malibu while running errands, the actor took time to chat with DailyMail.com and share a few jokes at his own expense.
“Well, if I’d known I was going to live this long I’d have taken better care of myself!” he said.
After being asked about his secret to living a long life, Dick added: “Well, I don’t know, all my friends are dead so I’m not going to complain!”
The entertainer and comedian also suggested that he didn’t have any special plans for his birthday and that he simply plans on “hiding it out.”
During the encounter, the former actor sported a tan shirt and grey sweatpants. He also put on a big smile as he posed for pictures.
It comes weeks after Dick was seen hitting the gym together with his wife, Arlene Silver. Despite his age, the 97-year-old, whose career spanned several decades, remains active and is known for running errands in Malibu.
He was previously spotted outside the Malibu Community Labor Exchange, his favorite non-profit organization, where he handed out $5 bills to job seekers and the homeless.
“Whenever I have some fives I come by. You can’t do it all the time, though!” he explained.
Back in June, Dick also admitted he was “glad to still be here” as he greeted the reporters while strolling through his neighborhood.
