You probably think that you or someone you know comes from a huge family, but hold on tight as you meet the Zanger’s!
Ruth and her husband, Leo, had a whopping 12 children. However, they never stopped their parenting duties after their last child reached adulthood. With so many children under their skin, their family tree grew new branches as each child married and had babies of their own.
By the time Leo reached 79, they already celebrated the birth of his 100th grandchild. Wow!
The adorable little guy is named Jaxton Leo Zanger. Even so, that is not the only goal boat Leo and his wife were proud to have achieved. In addition to having their own little town, the couple is also celebrating their 61 years of togetherness!
It is also amazing that they can keep everyone’s names and also birthdays straight.
Even though almost no one is using an old-fashioned phone book anymore, the Z’s would surely fill up an entire book. That’s because Ruth and Leo have a total of 12 children, 53 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grand-baby!
With so many children running around, even the baby’s parents, Ashleigh and Austin, were not aware that Jaxton would be the 100th born. It was not until the unofficial ‘family historian’ Donna Zanger Lane told them of the news and they got hyped about the special honor.
Donna told TODAY: “When we get together, it’s big. It’s really big. There are a lot of people – a lot of kids – but that’s what it’s all about. We always have a really good time.”
As more of the grandchildren start to tie the knot, there is no visible end as to how many Zanger’s are going to take over the town. Ruth and Leo welcome each and every one of them as if they were their first born. For Leo, birth is a miracle and “to have a new one is just a wonderful thing.”
