Cristiano Ronaldo has opted to remain silent after Team Argentina scored a thrilling win in this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
In the same way, the leading striker is yet to congratulate fellow arch-rival Lionel Messi whose supreme performance led Argentina to win the World Cup after a staggering 36 years.
The news comes as Ronaldo was steeped in all sorts of controversies during the tournament and right before it.
We saw the world’s most famous soccer player be bashed for leaving Manchester United after speaking ill about the team’s management. And then we saw him joining a leading private club in Saudi Arabia that offered billions.
Let’s not forget how the star striker was left as a substitute on the benches, despite being the captain of his side and the world’s top player. Many were confused by the team’s coach who would do something like that and make him face humiliation in front of the public eye.
Fans around the world feel that the showdown on Sunday that arose between Argentina and France would be going down in history as one of the best finals to have ever taken place. But it seems like Ronaldo may have to disagree with that.
Many critics feel Ronaldo is avoiding the world of social media at this moment in time. The way he was treated by his own national team’s head coach is just baffling for obvious reasons. But that does not explain his poor performance in the FIFA World Cup where many hoped to see the striker in action when allowed on the pitch.
Seeing Ronaldo walk off the field crying tears is definitely a disturbing ordeal. But again, he met great criticism and was accused of fake crying. This was the 37-year-old player’s final World Cup and seeing him leave on a low is definitely a heartbreaking matter.
