Pirates of the Caribbean producer would allegedly love to work with Johnny Depp on the franchise’s sixth installment.
The Hollywood legend was previously sacked by Disney shortly after he was accused of domestic abuse by ex-wife Amber Heard in her 2018 The Washington Post op-ed.
While some sources previously suggested that moviemakers were trying to get the actor back as Captain Jack Sparrow for the sixth movie, others insisted that Disney would stick to its commitment to introduce “new energy” in its upcoming movie.
Now, however, the hopes of Depp’s fans have once more been renewed after Jerry Bruckheimer, the super-producer who has worked on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, said he would love to have Johnny back on board.
“I would love to have him in the movie,” Bruckheimer insisted.
“He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do,” he added while referring to Heard’s claims and the impact they had on Depp’s career ever since.
While the producer would love to work with Depp in the new movie, he admitted it’s up to Disney and the actor to reach an agreement that would see the return of one and only Captain Jack Sparrow.
“You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know,” he added.
The producer also joked about the rumors suggesting that Disney would have to kill off the notorious pirate should Jack Sparrow make an epic return in the sixth movie.
“You can’t. We tried to kill him. It didn’t work,” he said.
